Aaron Carter is back with new music – and yes, this is really 2016.

The 28-year-old singer released his single “Fool’s Gold” and its mesmerizing video Friday, nearly 14 years after the release of his last album, Another Earthquake. The track is from his forthcoming album LoVe.

Carter breaks out his birthday suit for the clip, donning black and gold body makeup while getting up-close-and-personal with a love interest in a transparent metallic body suit.

“He don’t know you’re worth your weight in gold,” sings Carter in the upbeat dance track, a decidedly mature departure from his early hits “Aaron’s Party (Come Get It)” and “I Want Candy.”

“Waking up feeling really blessed with a new start to my life in more ways than one,” Carter tweeted about the release Friday.

He later wrote, “I won’t stop. I’ll never give up. If I’m gonna make music, then I’m gonna make music,” including a link to the song on iTunes.

Despite his break from the charts, Carter has had no shortage of headlines. In February, he faced a backlash after endorsing GOP frontrunner Donald Trump for president.

And in December, fan reactions to his tweets about a devastating breakup prompted him to clarify his wellbeing. He tweeted, “[There’s] no reason for people to accuse me of having ‘mental breakdowns’ because i express myself & yea sometimes people piss me off.”
