A Look Back at Jessica Simpson s Tough Year
The past year has been full of ups and downs for Jessica Simpson, but the singer received some devastating news on Sept. 14 when her beloved Maltipoo, Daisy, was snatched by a coyote before her eyes. Ever resilient, the singer is staying optimistic about the ordeal, posting on her Twitter that she's "still holding out hope" that her pup will be returned safe.
A WEIGHTY ISSUE
The singer was left "sad and hurt" after photos of her at the 99.9 KISS Country Chili Cookoff in Pembroke Pines, Fla., on Jan. 25 surfaced – and caused an uproar over her weight. The singer had her share of celebrity defenders, though, including sister Ashlee, who blogged, "I find it completely embarrassing and belittling to all women to read about a woman's weight or figure."
SURVIVING AN EARTHQUAKE
While filming her new reality show The Price of Beauty in Japan in August, the singer experienced a real shocker: a 6.6 earthquake that struck early in the morning! "Thought I was hallucinating," she Tweeted. "I have never felt anything like this in my life. Laying in bed watching CNN."
FLUBBING HER LINES
After releasing her country album Do You Know last September, Simpson performed on Good Morning America and hit a technical snag, which caused her to restart her performance. During her ensuing concert tour, Simpson occasionally forgot her lyrics – not that it mattered to her fans! "She looked phenomenal," one concertgoer at a Feb. 5 show in Grand Rapids, Mich., told PEOPLE at the time.
SPLITTING WITH TONY
Simpson also used Twitter to find the silver lining after longtime beau Tony Romo broke up with her on the night before her 29th birthday in July. "Everyone needs to know that hope floats," she wrote despite her heartbreak. "Grab the strings and pull it back to you."
