Rolling Stone stalwart Keith Richards and a group of his rural English neighbors have won a battle to block plans for a new road near the rock legend’s country home, reports the British Press Association. The wild-living guitarist, 55, was part of a group which complained about taking down trees — which were being cleared to make way for an auto access route to the West Sussex seaside — near his moated Elizabethan farmhouse. A statement issued by the Department of Environment said such access could also damage the roots of a tree which was the subject of a tree preservation order, causing it potential “long-term harm” and affecting the natural beauty of the local harbor.
