The mom of 13 welcomed the four babies on Saturday. Annegret Raunigk had three boys and one girl, who were born premature at 26 weeks. The news was announced by RTL, a German TV network. The boys, born at a Berlin hospital, are named Dries, Bence and Fjonn, and the girl is named Neeta. RTL said the quads have “good chances of surviving,” despite not being carried to full term, according to AFP. “However, the babies, in comparison with a normal birth in the 40th week, are not completely developed, so eventual complications can’t be ruled out,” RTL said in a report. The births make her the oldest mother of quadruplets to date. Raunigk’s pregnancy was the result of artificial insemination using both donated eggs and sperm. The teacher already had 13 children from reportedly five different fathers, the oldest child is 40. She is also a grandmother to seven. When Raunigk first spoke of her pregnancy in April, she told German newspaper Bild she wasn’t concerned about the possible health risks for a woman her age. “I simply assume that I will remain fit and healthy,” she told the newspaper at the time.
