It’s the holidays – which means you’re probably in a gift-wrapping, followed by a gift-opening, frenzy. Factor in all that family time – nothing like bonding with those aunts, uncles and cousins you see once a year – food and wine (for the 21 and over club), and we bet you could use a little distraction … or five!

1. This Is the Cutest Thing Ever: Cats & Dogs in Santa Hats

We’re obsessed with adorable pet photos. But, we’re even more obsessed with pets decked out like walking Christmas cards, all candy-caned up and wrapped like a wiggly, slobbering present, just for you.

2. The Funny Gifts You Wish You Were Getting This Year

Unwrapped the biggest box under the tree only to find socks? At least it wasn’t bacon shaving cream – unless, of course, you’re into that sort of thing. If that’s the case, we’ve got six silly, only slightly offensive but totally funny gifts for you.

3. How We Imagine the Royal Christmas Morning to Look

Apparently, Will and Kate also sit around the tree in their robes and PJ’s – with perfectly styled hair, of course. At least, that’s what we like to think. So we found this couple with a jaw-dropping resemblance to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge who played out our Christmas Day fantasy, paper crowns and all. See the photos here.

4. These Reindeer Cupcakes with Pretzel Antlers

We didn’t think we could bite into these – we didn’t want to crumble the red-nosed cuteness – but cupcakes don’t last long around us. Especially ones that mix salt and chocolate with a little crunch. And if you’re not into baking at all this season, you have permission just to look: Here are 14 clever, sweet and homemade winter-themed cupcake designs.

5. Frosty the Soap-Man Wishes You a Squeaky Clean Christmas

No snow outside? Make your own white wonderland – just grab some soap, a cheese grater, toilet paper (trust us) and follow these directions for an indoor snowman. Or, if you’re not in the mood for crafts, just watch Jimmy Stewart play with soap: Turns out, It’s a Wonderful Life was shot during 90-degree days in June and July. Yep, that white stuff you thought was snow was probably, at least in some part, soap.

Thanks for reading us this year. Now, as this Elf Cat would say if it could, have a happy holiday, from PEOPLE!
