A-who? Several months after Kate Hudson split from New York Yankee Alex Rodriguez, the actress, 31, was spotted out and about in Paris with a possible new love interest: Matthew Bellamy. (Reps for both the Muse frontman and Hudson remain mum about their clients’ private lives.)

Here are five things you should know about the 32-year-old English rocker:

Music Runs in His Family
According to Rolling Stone, Matthew’s father George was a guitarist for the ’60s band, The Tornadoes, which produced “Telstar,” the first song by a British band to hit No. 1 in the U.S. In an October 2009 interview with the magazine, Matthew said, “[At home there was] no glamour, no sense I was being brought up by anybody famous.” He started playing music after his parents divorced during his early teens, “I missed [my father] and turned to the guitar.”

He Helped Inspire the Twilight Saga
Twilight series author Stephenie Meyer – a longtime fan of Muse – thanks Bellamy’s band for being her muse. In Breaking Dawn‘s acknowledgments page she says, “And thanks also to my favorite band, the very aptly named Muse, for providing a saga’s worth of inspiration.”

Muse’s songs have even appeared on the Twilight soundtracks. Bellamy told Canada’s National Post, “It was actually Stephenie Meyer who approached the band quite a few years ago She was very friendly and she told us she liked the music and she’d like to use the music in the films. It was a few years later that the filmmakers came to us, and we said sure. I had no idea [the first movie] was going to be a film as it was. I thought it was going to be an indie film.”

He’s Not as Paranoid as Everyone Thinks
After publicly expressing an interest in politics and conspiracy theories, Bellamy says he’s been portrayed in the press as a bit of a nut. ” ‘Matt’s an oddball,’ ‘Matt’s paranoid’ is it?” the musician asked the Liverpool Daily Post when referring to a magazine article published about him. He explains, “Conspiracy always stinks of paranoia, but I am genuinely interested in researching the mechanisms behind powerful organizations. That can take you down weird paths, towards conspiracy theories and wacky ideas, but that doesn’t mean I believe them.”

He Saw a Shrink
Before being linked to Hudson, Bellamy was in a relationship with Italian psychologist Gaia Polloni. In an interview with Cosmopolitan Italy, Polloni revealed that the two met in a club in Milan, and described Bellamy as a great cook who loves the TV show Lost and leaves his socks everywhere. The pair dated for several years until ending their romance in late 2009. Bellamy told BBC Radio 1 that the song “Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever),” which appears on Eclipse soundtrack, was inspired by his breakup with Polloni.

He’s a Lady Gaga Fan
He told Canada’s National Post that his playlist includes fellow English rock bands White Lies and The Horrors, but freely admits to admiring pop sensation Lady Gaga. “I’m really into Lady Gaga,” he said with a laugh. “She’s such a brilliant performer.”
