5 Things That Happened This Week, as Told by Emojis
CAITLYN JENNER ACCEPTS ARTHUR ASHE COURAGE AWARD
Accepting the prestigious honor (and looking damn fine) on stage at the ESPY Awards on Wednesday, Jenner made her first major public appearance – and opened up about her "whirlwind" past few months in an inspiring speech. "My plea to you tonight is to join me," she told the crowd. "Trans people deserve something. They deserve your respect. And from that respect comes a more compassionate country, a more empathetic society and a better world for all of us." (Wow, we're getting emotional all over again.)
LOUIS TOMLINSON WILL BE A FATHER, TWITTER DOES A SPIT TAKE
The 23-year-old One Direction heartthrob is expecting a baby with L.A.-based stylist Briana Jungwirth – something Directioners never expected (and thus processed hysterically on Twitter). Tomlinson, who's been flying to L.A. for each ultrasound, will be by Jungwirth's side when the baby arrives next year.
JENNIE GARTH GETS MARRIED IN A D.I.Y. WONDERLAND
The actress can craft. Her gorgeous July 11 wedding to actor Dave Abrams was the stuff of Pinterest-inspired dreams – fresh flowers, antique doors, lace accents and homemade touches as far as the eye can see at her six-acre ranch in Los Olivos, California. The best touch? Cheesy grits and fried chicken – the two greatest foods – were served at dinner.
EMMY NOMS ANNOUNCED, WE HAVE FEELINGS
Is it Sept. 20 yet?? After Thursday's reveal of the nominees for the 67th Annual Emmy Awards, we can't wait for Orange Is the New Black, which racked up quite a few noms, to sweep the ceremony. We also hope that Mad Men, nominated for Outstanding Drama, gets some love for its final season – Jon Hamm, Elisabeth Moss and Christina Hendricks all received acting noms.
JESSICA SIMPSON NAILS THE WHOLE BIRTHDAY THING
Jessica Simpson celebrated her 35th birthday in St. Bart's with a weeklong celebration. Sounds fabulous, right? Wait – it gets more fabulous. Along with 30 of her closest friends and family, including husband Eric Johnson and mother Tina, the star rented yachts and spent her days island-hopping, jet skiing, snorkeling, eating world-class meals and attending burlesque shows. (And of course, taking gorgeous Instagrams.)
