Mindy Kaling‘s boyfriend-turned-BFF B.J. Novak once described her as a “really complicated person” – but her idea of true happiness couldn’t be simpler.

“Being able to sleep for eight or nine hours after having, like, two Moscow Mules – that’s my feeling of happiness,” Kaling says in this week’s issue of PEOPLE.

The creator and star of The Mindy Project has earned those hours of rest. Kaling, 36, is celebrating the Hulu premiere of her rescued rom com and her new memoir Why Not Me? – both of which debuted on Tuesday.

This definitely calls for cocktails.

“A cocktail-induced sleep that is extended is my favorite kind of sleep,” Kaling adds. “You don’t have to wake up early the next morning – that’s my favorite feeling of contentedness. I don’t have children. Maybe looking into your child’s eyes is a better answer but I think the truth for me now is that.”

Who can blame her after she endured a 21-day juice cleanse to film scenes with her favorite “sexy weirdo” James Franco for Mindy Project?

Kaling admitted in her new book that the strict cleanse took a toll on her sleep.

“I would just lie in my bed, grinding my teeth, waiting for dawn to break,” she writes.

Thankfully, it’s a new day for Kaling – and there are plenty of Moscow Mules to go around.
