Whitney Way Thore knows firsthand how cruel people can be on social media.

The star of My Big Fat Fabulous Life, which was just renewed for another 14 episodes to air in 2017, regularly receives mean and hateful tweets and comments online.

In part one of the season three finale tell-all, Thore talks about the unfair criticism that she gets as a woman that her male friends don’t hear.

“I’ll be sitting right next to Buddy, who is also, I’m sure, classified as ‘morbidly obese,’ he’s a big dude, and you see the slew of comments saying I’m on death’s door, I’m disgusting, I’m lazy, I’m stupid, I’m ugly, I’m worthless, when I’m sitting right next to a very overweight man, and no one ever mentions him,” she says.

Thore then takes out her phone to read through some of the tweets she regularly receives.

“‘I don’t make fun of fat people, but this lady Whitney Way, it’s your own fault if you die,’ ” reads Thore in this exclusive clip from Wednesday’s episode.

“‘Whitney Way, I thought this would be the episode where you die from obesity I’m disappointed,’ ” Thore reads, tearing up.

“It brings up an emotional response for me,” Thore says. “People say, well obviously of course it upsets you. And it doesn’t touch my innermost self-confidence anymore.”

But while she feels that confidence now, Thore is fearful for young girls growing up in the social media age.

“What it does do is make me so scared for the person I used to be,” she says. “If I had the Internet then, I don’t know if I’d be alive. And for the young girls, who have the Internet and have to deal with that, it makes me so sad.”

Thore says that becoming a public figure is tough on her self-esteem, but the good outweighs the bad.

“When you open your life up for reality TV you let in all this negative stuff, but you also let in so much love,” she says. “I have so much love in my life.”

My Big Fat Fabulous Life airs Wednesday at 9/8c on TLC.
