Rob Lowe on His Serious Fitness Routine: 'I Do It to Keep My Head Straight'
The Grinder star says working out helps with his mental health
When Rob Lowe posted a topless gym selfie with his son John the message was clear – he is looking good and he takes fitness seriously!
“I’m a physical person with a ton of energy,” the actor said at the premiere of The Grinder on Tuesday night at the PaleyFest Fall TV Preview at the Paley Center for Media. “I need to do it, I need to be in the water, I need to be surfing, I need to by playing tennis, I do it to keep my head on straight.”
Working out is a daily priority for Lowe. “I work out every lunch break on Grinder,” he says. “It’s not like I’m a trainer, I just do it for my mental health, whatever I have time for.”
Lowe, who gave a touching speech about his 25 years of sobriety at the Brent Shapiro Foundation Summer Spectacular on Saturday, takes a holistic approach to health and fitness.
“It’s balance,” the actor said. “As a person who is an all or nothing person, the concept of a balance is hard for me to learn and hard won.”
As for the way he stays balanced: “Priorities. Picking what’s important. For me it’s family, work, health and happiness.”
