As a yoga teacher, Josephine Jacob often practiced her moves in her living room, so it wasn’t long before her two sons became active participants in her poses.

“It was kind of natural for them to jump in and copy me,” Jacob, 34, tells PEOPLE. “Or climb on top of me – boys will be boys!”

The mom to 10-year-old Kaniel and 4-year-old Gabriel says her sons both grew up doing yoga.

“I used to take them to baby-and-me yoga classes at local community centers, and it just evolved from there,” she says.

Jacob always keeps their family yoga sessions light-hearted.

“I try to keep it fun,” she says. “We dance around a lot and play with a lot of props, like feathers or Ping-Pong balls to work on our breathing. I don’t force them to do anything they don’t want to do.”

Jacob, who splits her time between Vancouver and Los Angeles, often posts her creative poses with her sons on Instagram, where she now has over 13,000 followers.

“I started the account as a sort of yoga journal,” she says. “The kids always wanted to be in the pictures, so I let them and just incorporated the poses around them!”
