Gone today, back tomorrow?

John Goodman doesn’t think his impressive weight loss will last much longer.

“Just wait another six months and I’ll be back to normal,” the actor, 63, joked with Savannah Guthrie on the Today Show Wednesday morning. “That’s the way it usually goes.”

Guthrie asked if it was true that Goodman, who stars in the upcoming 10 Cloverfield Lane, has lost around 100 lbs., but he isn’t sure.

“I have no idea how much I lost – I didn’t weigh myself,” Goodman says. “Clothes fit nice and I can go to nice clothing stores and buy too much stuff.”

But Goodman prefers his typical uniform, slimmed down or not.

“I still walk around in black T-shirts and jeans.”

“Next you’re going to be in Matt Lauer‘s skinny jeans,” Guthrie joked.

“I’d love to be in Matt Lauer’s jeans,” Goodman deadpanned.

Goodman has a habit of yo-yoing weight. He told PEOPLE in 2010 that he dropped over 100 lbs. thanks to cutting out alcohol and sugar and working with a trainer.

“I know it sounds sappy, but it was a waste,” he said at the time. “It takes a lot of creative energy to sit on your ass and figure out what you’re going to eat next … I wanted to live life better.”

The 6’2″ Goodman told David Letterman in 2011 that he weighed in at almost 400 lbs. at his heaviest, adding that he tends to fluctuate.

Right now though, he’s looking fitter than ever.
