"I think anything in life is about the middle ground," she tells PEOPLE
For fitness guru Jillian Michaels, it’s all about moderation.
“I think that anything in life is about the middle ground,” the mother of two tells PEOPLE in the new Bodies Issue, out Friday.
So when it comes to plastic surgery, Michaels, 41, says it can be a good thing as long as it doesn’t become an addiction, “which is dangerous territory.”
“I had my nose done when I was 16 years old, and I’ll be honest, it did change my life,” she says candidly.
After being bullied for her looks as a kid, Michaels says the surgery made her “feel more confident.”
“Not to say you should let your physicality define you, but there are some things that can make people feel really insecure,” she says. “So, if there is something you want to fix that allows you to feel a little bit more confident, I support it.
“I think it’s about [doing it for] the right reasons.”
