Julianne Hough can’t just rely on dancing to tone her body, she tells the July issue of Shape magazine. The two-time Dancing With the Stars champion says she works out nearly five times a week.

“There are certain areas of the body that dancing won’t tone, so I still stretch and do crunches, lunges, and arm moves just about every day,” the 20-year-old says.

And even though she’s not a morning person, exercise is one thing she will get up for. “I prefer to work out early because it gives me an energy boost for the rest of the day.”

Her workout includes the treadmill, free weights, and, of course, some choreography.

“With free weights I can do little twists and turns and almost choreograph my workouts,” she says in the issue, on newsstands June 2. “That’s more fun for me, and the time goes by faster.”
