The older Gwyneth Paltrow gets, the less she cares about what other people think of her — which has been an unexpected but welcome side effect of aging.

“When I turned 40, I felt like I got this free software upgrade that I wasn’t expecting,” the actress and Goop Clean Beauty author, 44, tells InStyle in the February issue, on newsstands Jan. 6. “It just happened. Suddenly I was like, ‘Oh, this is fantastic: I don’t care! I like myself, and I’m just going to live my life. I’m going to stop worrying and tearing myself down.’ ”

Paltrow also spoke about being a pioneer of unconventional health treatments, having publicly discussed her affinity for bee-sting facials and vaginal steaming before they were really on anyone’s radar.

“I’ve learned how the cycle works… It used to be that I would talk about something or write about it, and people would be like, ‘What the f— is she talking about? She’s a witch!’ ” she tells the magazine. “And then later on it would sort of catch on. So now I just recognize it: Okay, I’m going to talk about this, and people will think it’s weird, and that’s how it goes.”

The February cover girl also spent time with InStyle editor-in-chief Laura Brown, with whom she shared wellness secrets in a few tongue-in-cheek videos.

In the first, Brown whips up Paltrow’s signature green juice made with kale, lemon, mint, ginger, apple and water with some help from the Goop guru.

“I just became a better person,” Brown jokes after taking a sip of the smoothie (which we couldn’t help but notice Paltrow doesn’t actually sip herself!).

In a second video, Paltrow shows Brown how to practice yoga — which apparently cannot be done in platform sandals, but can be done in jeans and a white button-down shirt. She demonstrates some of her go-to moves, including warrior pose and lotus pose.

But Paltrow’s best wellness tip? Having a glass of red wine.

“This is actually exactly how to be Gwyneth Paltrow: Pinot Noir,” Paltrow jokes while pouring them both a glass.

Now that’s some advice we can get behind!
