It looks as though the next fitness trend may have just broken out… of prison.
ConBody in New York City is a prison style bootcamp led by trainers who were formerly detained. Members enter through a faux cell door, and practice cardio and bodyweight exercises with military techniques designed to shed pounds and gain muscle.
“ConBody is a prison style bootcamp derived from my prison experience where I managed to lose 70 lbs. in six months in a 9′ x 6′ cell,” founder and CEO Coss Marte explains.
Marte dealt marijuana, cocaine, heroin and ecstasy before he had to serve four years in prison on drug-related charges, according to the New York Times.

“I helped over 20 inmates in prison lose over 1,000 lbs. combined and brought that program from the prison yards to the streets of New York City,” he says, adding, “We hire formerly incarcerated individuals, we re actually breaking stereotypes and bringing that community together.”
And like ConBody’s clever motto states, if you “do the time,” you’ll more than likely see results.
