Reign’s Caitlin Stasey says she used to struggle with body image to the point where she wouldn’t go swimming in a bathing suit.
“Up until this year, I would go in the ocean fully clothed because I was like, ‘I’m not buying a bikini, I’m not doing that to myself,’ ” the actress, 25, says in a new video for StyleLikeU’s "What’s Underneath" project.
“I had this really long singlet that I wore for ages that I just pretended was a fashion choice. I was like ‘Yeah, I love it, it’s so breezy’ but it was actually because I didn’t want anyone to see my body.”
But Stasey says she’s started to accept herself more, even if she doesn’t feel she meets the standard.
“I don’t feel like I have dysmorphia of any kind, I know my body, and not in a way that feels judgmental, but I know I don’t look like Sports Illustrated,” she says. “Like I don’t have a Sports Illustrated figure. It’s not too far off but it’s not that. That margin of difference is quite significant here [in LA.]”

Stasey is hoping to empower other women through her website, Herself.com, which combines profiles with nude images.
“The nude photography is purely there to emphasize the diversity in the female figure; to empower young women to find themselves through those images because women’s bodies are so often taken from them, objectified, sexualized, used to sell something,” she says.
