Ariel Winter is proud of her breast reduction scars – and wants everyone to feel just as confident.

After spending Sunday defending her decision to wear a dress that showed her surgery scars to the SAG Awards, Winter, 18, took to Instagram Tuesday to encourage her followers to feel just as body-positive.

“Embrace all that you are Scars & everything,” she captioned a photo of a quote from Marc Jacobs. “Your imperfections make you perfectly you #loveyourself.”

The post echoes her comments from Twitter, when she told her fans that showing her scars was a conscious choice.

“Guys there is a reason I didn’t make an effort to cover up my scars!” Winter tweeted. “They are part of me and I’m not ashamed of them at all.”

The Modern Family star wore a strapless, backless, black embroidered gown by Romona Keveza to the awards show.

And Winter is no stranger to body shaming – the actress faced criticism for a photo she Instagrammed of herself and her nieces in bathing suits in November.

Body shaming was also partially why Winter decided to reduce her breasts from a size 32F to a 34D last summer, after facing online bullying – and dealing with “excruciating” back pain.

“I think it will be the only [cosmetic surgery] I’ll have done, but I’m extremely happy with the decision I made,” she told PEOPLE. “It’s important to talk about it because there are young girls suffering like I did, but there shouldn’t be a stigma about it.”
