“It’s the worst,” admitted the 42-year-old pop singer of the guilt she feels during a Friday visit to ITV’s Lorraine.
“I remember going to the studio the first couple of times and sobbing in the car. It was the weirdest thing ever,” she adds. “That had never happened to me in my life. I’m going, ‘What is this?’ ”

But the guilt doesn’t overwhelm the “M.I.L.F. $” singer, who recognizes that the balance of responsibility in work and home life is a little uneven when it comes to societal expectations.
“The men can have all the career in the world and still have children, but if you’re a mom and you have a career, it’s the mommy shaming,” says Fergie. ” ‘You can’t do that anymore, you’re a mom!’ ”
She adds, “What am I supposed to do? I love singing and dancing. It’s who I am as a human.”

“I would never have him do anything he didn’t want to do,” she clarifies. “He was having fun with it. I just kind of put the phone there on record and when I bought it home and played it for him, he went, ‘It’s me!’ ”
And although Fergie and Duhamel, 45, are no longer a couple, they are continuing to make their son their shared priority. “It’s never easy, something like this,” she admits. “But [Axl] comes first, and we’ve got to make it happen.”
