Do not call Drew Barrymore a lifestyle guru.
While the actress, 41, is already preparing for the holidays, she doesn’t consider herself artsy, per se. “I would not know where to glaze a dog bowl,” she tells PEOPLE when talking about crafting with daughters Olive, 4, and Frankie, 2½. “They’re much craftier than I am.”
The actress already has “groovy hipster” Christmas stockings picked out for the family from her new holiday line with Shutterfly – “me and the girls and Will will definitely have them” – and is looking forward to partaking in her favorite activities. “We’ll do the goofy Snoopy advent calendar and the Vince Guaraldi on a loop,” she says.
This year, Barrymore plans to spend the holidays with her ex-husband, Will Kopelman, their daughters and some friends, though she remains jokingly coy on specifics.
“Usually we go to Idaho every year, but this year we’re switching it up. We have three adventures planned for our kids that range in activities with other kids and travels and some fun stuff,” she says. “We’re spending it as a family and doing cool things. Some involve animals and some involve friends.”

Don’t tell Olive and Frankie, but she and Kopelman have already begun making their daughters photo albums for their Christmas gifts.
“Giving gifts that feel personalized is really the key — not making it feel like that last minute mad dash when you’re just grabbing something to get something for people,” Barrymore says. “When you put their name on it, or put a picture on it, or make it personal, you know that person thought of you early. And it really means a lot.”
In October, the actress said that her secret to co-parenting with Kopelman is “constant planning.”
When asked how the parents, who divorced in August, spend their new lives apart, Barrymore told Entertainment Tonight, “I think plans. Constant plans. We, as a family, have three dates for this Halloween.”
