Is funny man Chris Rock returning to the Oscars stage?

According to a report by Variety, the actor and comedian is in serious talks to host next year’s award show.

Rock hosted the event back in 2005, just months before his hit sitcom Everybody Hates Chris debuted in the fall. Although the show is no longer on air, relationships from the TV series have some cross-over with the 2016 Academy Awards production team.

Reginald Hudlin, who directed the pilot of Rock’s comedy, is now co-producing the Oscars, Variety reports.

While Rock received mostly good reviews for his hosting gig 10 years ago, he also managed to cause some discomfort in the audience with his repeated jabs at the industry.

Neither Rock nor the Academy Awards have made an official announcement. Online comedy site RobotButt was first to report on Rock s rumored return.
