The Screen Actors Guild Awards formally recognize something that the Golden Globes and Academy Award don’t – ensemble acting by the entire casts of TV shows and movies.

It a nice way to acknowledge that good acting doesn’t happen in a bubble, and that actors are often at their best when they have great performances by costars to play off.

It also makes for fun competition, as ensembles compete against each other on the big night. And this year, the showdowns are as exciting as ever.
