It all started when Hart jokingly threw shade at his Central Intelligence costar while picking up his award for favorite comedic movie actor, thanking everyone but Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. "It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice," a smiling Johnson said when he picked up his own award for favorite premium series actor, before adding: "unless you're talking to Kevin Hart, and then you tell him to go f--- himself."

WHEN BLAKE LIVELY GAVE AN INSPIRING GIRL POWER SPEECH

"My momma always taught me as a kid that you can't let anyone limit you. Don't let anyone tell you there's something you can't do," Lively said while accepting the People's Choice Award for favorite dramatic movie actress. "You voted for girl power. Thank you for sending a message to Hollywood that people want to hear stories about women. You are valuable and no one can limit you."

WHEN JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE HUGGED ELLEN DEGENERES & PORTIA DE ROSSI

Before scooping up his award for favorite male artist and favorite song of the year for his infectious single "Can't Stop the Feeling," Timberlake stopped for a group hug with DeGeneres and de Rossi. Squad goals? We think so. "I have to thank my two favorite people in the world: my wife and son, who may or may not be watching right now," Timberlake said during his acceptance speech. "If you are [awake], buddy, the nanny is fired. You're the reason I wrote this song."

WHEN BLAKE SHELTON GAVE GWEN STEFANI A SHOUT-OUT

After being spotted with his famous girlfriend backstage, the country singer took to the show's stage to belt out his single, "Every Time I Hear That Song." Immediately following the performance, Shelton was awarded two People's Choice Awards for favorite album and favorite country male singer. Unsurprisingly, the crooner ended his acceptance speech by thanking his leading lady. "I want to thank the hottest date in the room, Gwen Stefani," he said.

WHEN ELLEN DEGENERES SET A PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS RECORD

Lucky No. 20! The beloved talk show host received her 20th award at the annual show, setting a record with the most wins in People's Choice Awards history. "This is amazing. Twenty. I mean 17, I get it. Eighteen, sure. Nineteen, I can see that but 20 is outrageous," DeGeneres said while onstage. "This is really something that means more to me than – because it comes from the people ... You are the people who are responsible for me being up here. The only thing that would make me happier is if it was voted on by animals, I love animals."

WHEN TYLER PERRY WAS HONORED WITH THE HUMANITARIAN AWARD

And gave a super-inspiring acceptance speech to boot! "No matter how dark it gets, we have to be light for each other … What is so important is no matter what anyone's going through, we're all going through it together," Perry said, before adding: "All I want to do is bring some balance and shed some light to one another. Be that light for [people]."

Not only did Fifth Harmony make their red carpet debut as a foursome, but the girl group — who scooped up their second consecutive award for favorite band — also gave a memorable rendition of their hit song "Work from Home."

WHEN SOFIA VERGARA WON HER FIRST PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD

With five People's Choice Award nominations for favorite comedic TV actress under her belt, Vergara finally took home her first-ever award, and celebrated the occasion with a passionate speech. "I never, in a million years, thought that with this ridiculous accent, I would ever be a part of something so successful and so loved by all of you," the Modern Family actress said. "I have not taken it for granted … It has opened so many doors for Latino actors."

WHEN JOHNNY DEPP ACCEPTED HIS FIRST AWARD SINCE HIS DIVORCE DRAMA

"I'm here for the people. Whatever good times or bad, you've trusted me. Thank you," Depp told audience while accepting his award for favorite movie icon, alluding to his split from ex-wife Amber Heard. "It's especially meaningful to me to be here in front of you to thank you. We all know that I wouldn't be here it wasn't for you."
