And the award for sweetest acceptance speech goes to … Sandra Bullock!

The star was honored as favorite movie actress at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday, and proved why she’s America’s sweetheart by telling an adorable story about her 5-year-old son, Louis.

But first, she recognized all the “working mamas” in her category: Anne Hathaway, Melissa McCarthy, Meryl Streep and Scarlett Johansson.

“You know, I was thinking over the holidays why I love what I do so much and it wasn’t so much the end result as it is the company I get to keep along the way,” Bullock, 51, said to kick off her speech.

“None of them are happier than if someone else does something wonderful and has success,” she continued. “They all break molds and push that glass ceiling up and they re all mamas. We’re all working mamas who love what we do and we get to do what we do because of you.”

Bullock then explained that she was taking care of Louis and 3 ½-year-old daughter Laila, whom she recently adopted from Louisiana, before the show – and they got curious about where she was headed.

“As I was leaving today, this mama told the kids she had to go somewhere,” she said. “They said ‘Where you going?’ and I said ‘Well, I’m going to a show’ and my son said ‘What’s the name of the show?’ ”

The star then explained to Louis what winners do when they receive an honor like a People’s Choice Award.

“He goes, ‘Am I getting an award?’ and I said ‘Well, why are you getting an award?’ and he goes ‘What do they give awards for?’ and I said ‘movies, TV, acting’ and he says ‘I ve acted!’ and I said ‘What have I seen you in?’ ”

Adorably, little Louis was referring to the home videos categorized in Bullock’s phone under the title Videos 2015.

“He said ‘Can I get an award for that? and I said ‘Well, if you get an award you have to say thank you and be grateful so what would you say?’ And he said, ‘I would like to say thank you to the world and thank you to the planet’ and I said ‘Is there anything else you would like to say?’ and he goes, ‘No, I just want to keep it simple.’ ”

To conclude her speech, Bullock then took the advice of her young son.

“And so on behalf of Videos 2015, thank you to the planet and on behalf of this mama, I would like to say thank you to the people on this planet for once again the great company, giving me a memory and this. Thank you so much,” she said.
