Star-studded award show or swanky airport lounge? It’s all the same to Jon Hamm.

Maybe he’s been spending too much time in character as a bicoastal ad exec in a long-distance marriage, but the Mad Men actor couldn’t help but quip about the hip setup inside the Beverly Hills Hilton at the PEOPLE Magazine Awards.

“Mostly I want to thank you all for welcoming me and all of us here at the first-class lounge at LAX. It’s really nice,” he joked while accepting the award for Television Performance of the Year – Actor on Thursday. “I have some flight updates. The 7:30 to SFO is on time, FYI, and the two red-eyes to JFK have been delayed.”

In the most meme-worthy moment of the night, he added, “Also, the Wi-Fi password is ‘pomegranate.’ That will conclude the ‘me attempting to be funny’ portion of this speech.”

But Don Draper had more laughs up his perfectly tailored sleeve.

“There’s another person who’s actually sitting in the audience who basically told me when I wasn’t working that I was still talented,” he said, thanking longtime partner Jennifer Westfeldt. “And she’s stuck with me for the last 16 years, even if the talent question remains up for grabs.”

And the final zinger?

“Thank you all for this. This is a beautiful award and a lovely night,” he said. “Please help yourself to mixed nuts and tiny finger sandwiches on the way out.”

Hot and hilarious? Sounds like we have our next contender for PEOPLE’s Sexiest Man Alive.
