Best Costume Design Oscar winner Jenny Beavan championed for environmental water issues during her acceptance speech.

After saying her thank yous, the Mad Max: Fury Road creative concluded her time on stage with a provoking thought for the audience and viewers to think about.

“I just want to say one quite serious thing, I’ve been thinking about this a lot, but actually it could be horribly prophetic, Mad Max, if we’re not kinder to each other, and if we don’t stop polluting our atmosphere, so you know, it could happen,” Beavan said.

The British costume designer – who won her first Oscar for 1985’s A Room with a View – warned of the recent environmental and global warming issues juxtaposing the problems with the post-apocalyptic wasteland where the George Miller-directed drama is set.

In the fourth installment of the Mad Max series, water is scarce, petrol is king and the disrupt society is run by a tyrannical ruler, whom Charlize Theron‘s character rebels against.

Mad Max: Fury Road is not only nominated for Best Picture, the film has won six out of 10 nominations.
