"Something like that, I really like to feel the pages. I can't read it on a Kindle. So I am really looking forward to that"
It’s been a whirlwind awards season for Room star Brie Larson, who took home the Best Actress Oscar at Sunday’s Academy Awards. But the first thing she wants to do when it is all over has nothing to do with movies.
“I really want to read Finnegans Wake,” Larson, 26, told reporters at Saturday’s 2016 Independent Spirit Awards – where she nabbed another best actress award – of her non-work plans. “It’s really hard. I’m traveling so much, I have to like put it aside because I’m not – something like that, I really like to feel the pages. I can’t read it on a Kindle. So I am really looking forward to that.”
In fact, Larson said, she’s already prepped for a deep dive into James Joyce’s infamously impenetrable novel.
“I have [both] the Joseph Campbell Key to Finnegans Wake and Finnegans Wake sitting on my desk, and that is the first thing that I will do when this is all done,” she said.
In the meantime, Larson prepared for the Oscars like almost every else: with some pre-show partying – including one recent f te involving wine and a paper crown.
“Words can not express how happy I am for this amazing girl! @brielarson you are the hostest with the mostest!” makeup artist Rachel Goodwin posted on Instagram Saturday. “Thank you for just being you! My heart and belly are so full of love right now.”
The good vibes worked as the admittedly jet-lagged Larson (she said on the red carpet that she had just flew in from Vietnam) nabbed the gold on Sunday.
