Will Arnett reprised his role as Batman for the song from The Lego Movie at the Oscars

Who was that Caped Crusader in Sunday’s performance of “Everything Is Awesome” at the Oscars?

That was none other than Will Arnett, the same fun dude who voiced the Batman character in The Lego Movie. No one in the audience could identify the man behind the mask, so PEOPLE asked Oscar head writer Greg Berlanti, and he confirmed that it was Arnett.

And it’s a suit that he will be “wearing” for a while: Arnett is set to reprise the role for The Lego Batman Movie slated for 2017.

Arnett recently told EW that he digs how his plastic character is becoming its own spin-off. “Even before we get into the sequel of The Lego Movie, we’re going to take a little side detour into the dark recesses of Lego Batman’s mind,” he said.

“It’s a really, really fun idea and I think that for the people who did enjoy that part of The Lego Movie and who enjoyed Batman, they’re going to feel very satisfied about where this goes The action, from what I’ve seen so far, is incredibly intense and hilarious simultaneously. And that’s no easy feat.”
