Steve Carell's Wife Tried to Make Him Cry on the Red Carpet

The Foxcatcher star became emotional after hearing his wife's praise

Usually stars save the Oscar night tears until they’re inside the Dolby Theatre, but Steve Carell had a misty-eyed moment right on the carpet.

The Best Actor nominee got caught off guard by a comment made by his wife, Nancy Carell. The couple was talking to ABC7 about Steve’s dramatic turn in Foxcatcher, and Nancy couldn’t hold back her praise.

“I thought he was amazing,” Nancy said of her husband’s performance.

After hearing his wife’s review, Steve had some kind words of his own.

“That means everything to me,” he responded.

“I’m going to start crying before I get inside.”

Nancy isn’t the only lady celebrating Steve on Oscar night. Emma Watson posted a thank you to the actor on Instagram for wearing cuff links that support the HeForShe campaign.

HeForShe is the United Nations Women’s movement for gender equality. As a United Nations Women Goodwill Ambassador, Watson helped launch the campaign with an eloquent speech in September 2014.

While Steve didn’t take home an Academy Award, he certainly won a few hearts on Oscar night.
