American Sniper star Sienna Miller proudly gave a shout-out to her film on the Academy Awards red carpet Sunday, calling it “an American story … a very poignant, human story.”

Though Miller, 33, was born in New York City, she grew up in London and said the world of Sniper “was a complete other world … and that’s what I liked about it.”

The star of the Best Picture contender also told Ryan Seacrest on E!’s pre-show that working with Sniper‘s director was a pinch-me moment: “You wake up every day, and Clint Eastwood says, ‘Good morning.’ As a child, this is what you dream about as an actor.”

Indeed, it is no doubt an emotional night for the cast, crew and real-life inspirations behind Sniper.

Taya Kyle, the wife of Chris Kyle – widely considered the deadliest sniper in U.S. history, and whom Bradley Cooper played in the film – is set to attend the ceremony, a change of pace from the harrowing trial taking place in a Texas courtroom over the murder of the former Navy SEAL.
