No one was more excited about his Oscar victory than Eddie Redmayne.

When PEOPLE asked the Best Actor winner what was going through his head, he could barely describe it.

“Every kind of adrenaline, euphoria, excitement, nerves you can imagine!” he said.

Redmayne took home the prize for his role as Stephen Hawking in The Theory of Everything. He plans to visit the famous physicist to share the victory with him.

“I think I will certainly go to Cambridge at some point to see Stephen and Jane,” he told reporters in the press room. “They’ve been so kind to us throughout this process.”

Indeed, Hawking congratulated Redmayne on Facebook following his win, telling him that he was “very proud”:

The 33-year-old was notably flustered when he took the stage to accept the prize, faltering before saying “Wow!” mid-speech.

While he’s sure to have made plenty of memories on Sunday evening, he told PEOPLE early on that he had two favorites already: “Kissing my wife and hugging Cate Blanchett.”

So what’s next for the actor? “Staying in employment would make me very happy,” he said.

Something tells us that shouldn’t be a problem.
