Nathan's Hot Dog Eating Contest Winner Breaks Record with 70 Hot Dogs in 10 Minutes
Defending champion Miki Sudo held onto her crown as queen of the annual Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest in Coney Island, New York, Monday, inhaling 38.5 hot dogs in 10 minutes to claim her third straight title. Meanwhile, Joey “Jaws” Chestnut, 32, reclaimed his title from 2015 victor Matt Stonie, 24, with 70 dogs in the 10-minute limit.
Stonie’s second-place win saw him scarf 53 hot dogs. Chestnut broke his own record, which he set in 2013 by eating 69 dogs in 10 minutes. Third-place contestant Cameron Dallas topped out at 42 hot dogs.
Sudo, 30, hails from Las Vegas and will be returning to her hometown with the women’s pink championship belt and the $10,000 cash prize.
Second-place winner Sonya “Black Widow” Thomas, 48, devoured 34 hot dogs. Thomas was the defending champion from 2011 to 2014, when she lost her title to Sudo in 2014.
Nathan’s Famous hot dog eating contest is an annual Fourth of July highlight along the Coney Island boardwalk.
