Katy Perry felt super confident before her epic Super Bowl performance.

“I was able to prepare for a whole month,” she told Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet before the Grammy Awards. “I did it over 40 times before I actually performed.”

The experience, which Perry called “thrilling,” was a huge success, thanks to prayer and meditation, she told Seacrest.

“I also didn’t watch the game before I went on because I didn’t want to know what was going on,” she explains.

Additionally Perry, whose on-again boyfriend John Mayer accompanied her to the Super Bowl and is also performing Sunday, received one important message before the halftime show.

“God said to me, ‘You got this, and I got you,’ ” she told Seacrest. “And then I looked at this guy in a head set and he said to me, ‘You got this.’ ”

Then, she knew she was in safe hands.

Next up, Perry will perform with domestic abuse survivor Brooke Axtell on the Grammys stage.
