Kate Winslet stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday and satiated longtime fans of 1997 blockbuster Titanic by admitting that, yeah, she did kinda let Leonardo DiCaprio “freeze to death.” “I think he could have actually fit on that bit of door,” Winslet admitted. Fans of the Oscar-winning epic will recall one of the film’s final scenes, where Rose (Winslet) floated on a raft in the Atlantic Ocean. Her star-crossed lover Jack (DiCaprio) couldn’t fit on the ship debris and subsequently died of hypothermia while clutching tightly to Rose’s hands. Internet users have long argued that Winslet’s character could have made room for Jack, prompting the Discovery Channel’s Mythbusters to eventually step in and confirm speculation that the board was buoyant enough for them both – if they used Rose’s life jacket as a flotation device. Winslet and DiCaprio have remained close in the 19 years since the film’s release, keeping fans thrilled. “People are always so excited to see Leo and myself in the same space, which at the end of the day, that’s so lovely, isn’t it?” the star said. “It’s been 20 years and people still get such a kick out of it. It’s really quite endearing. And we do laugh about it.” She added of their recent Screen Actors Guild Awards run-in, “We were giggling about it that night. I was like, ‘Oh my God, can you actually believe it that people still get so overwhelmed by the Jack and Rose thing?’ ” VIDEO: Leo and Kate Reunite at the Golden Globes! Winslet also explained the backstory of a silly photo she took with Susan Sarandon at the Saturday awards, telling Kimmel, bluntly, that she was “feeling Susan Sarandon’s t—.” “Did you ask first?” prompted Kimmel, who showed off the image, to which Winslet gleefully replied, “Of course not!” She added, “I think I may have even felt Kristen Wiig’s butt at some point.”
