Jennifer Aniston took home the award for Movie Performance of the Year – Actress at the PEOPLE Magazine Awards on Thursday.

“Wow, this is so exciting. Is this real life?” said Aniston, 45, on the live telecast from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles. “I have really now experienced what a labor of love truly means and this movie was never short of that.”

The Cake star’s good friend John Krasinski presented her with the award, and said, ” Every once in a while you get to see one of your friends do something great. In her new film Cake, people were calling her performance transformative and career-defining but for her friends it’s further proof of what we have known all along – she can do it all.”

And 2014 has been a big year for Aniston, who has movie fans and critics buzzing about her makeup-free performance in Cake. She’s also been nominated for a Golden Globe for best actress in a motion picture, drama, by the Hollywood Foreign Press.
