Ben Affleck fans owe Gone Girl director David Fincher one big thank-you.

While accepting an award for the movie to close out the Hollywood Film Awards Friday, Affleck claimed he never signed on for the full-frontal scene – and Fincher basically tricked him into it.

“David assured me – because trust is essential with directors and actors – ‘Listen, if we tilt down, we’ll never go far enough to see anything,’ ” Affleck said with a slight smirk while holding the Hollywood Film trophy.

The actor then jokingly thanked Fincher for making sure conditions were optimal for the memorable shower scene.

“I’d like to thank you for keeping the set cool,” he said while faux-awkwardly clearing his throat. “If you’re gonna have one chance for America to see your junk, you want it to be cold.”
