If Golden Globe wins were based on Facebook posts, The Imitation Game would go home with the big prize

The Golden Globes are almost here, and the people have posted their choices – some more than others.

Each Golden Globe winner is decided by the Hollywood Foreign Press, but that hasn’t stopped fans from sharing their favorite performances online. Facebook has rounded up all the chatter about the award show posted to the social network, starting from the announcement of the nominees on Dec. 14, and has come up with the most talked-about contenders.

Out of the United States, Washington D.C. had the most to say about their Golden Globe favorites, followed by Utah, California, Oregon and New York. The Facebook world’s picks for the top prizes include The Imitation Game and Into the Woods for movies and House of Cards and Transparent for television.

People also couldn’t stop posting about Reese Witherspoon (duh), Benedict Cumberbatch, Emily Blunt, Bill Murray, Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo. Could all this viral buzz mean big wins for these actors come awards night? Everyone – Facebook users included – will have to wait until Sunday to find out.

Until then, let’s keep the online conversation going. Who do you hope comes home with a Golden Globe?
