Michael Keaton presented the Joy star with the statuette for best performance by an actress, musical or comedy, at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles. In her speech, Lawrence credited director David O. Russell for her successful career. “Every time I am up here it is because of you,” she said. “Thank you for choosing me, thank you for your brilliance. Thank you for teaching me so much professionally and personally.” Lawrence also told Russell: “Your love for cinema is so pure. You are so untainted by all of this, and you make movie like you don’t even care if anyone ever sees them. I mean that as a compliment.” Lawrence was up against Lily Tomlin for Grandma, Melissa McCarthy for Spy, Maggie Smith for The Lady in the Van and pal Amy Schumer for Trainwreck. Hosted once again by Ricky Gervais, the 73rd annual Golden Globes are being presented live from Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California, on NBC.
