The Golden Globe Awards were presented on Sunday night at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles

The Affair won the Golden Globe for best TV series, drama on Sunday night.

“This is unreal,” series co-creator Sarah Treem said while accepting the award on behalf of the cast and crew.

The award was presented by Adam Levine and Paul Rudd at the Beverly Hilton in Los Angeles.

The Affair was up against Downton Abbey, Game of Thrones, House of Cards and The Good Wife.

“If I have learned anything from writing about an affair, it’s how sacred and valuable and essential our marriages are,” Treem also said during her acceptance speech.

The 72nd annual Golden Globe Awards were hosted for the third time by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.
