She has a blossoming career and an enviable fashion sense, and Felicity Jones also has the perfect cure for those inevitable low moments. “If I’m trying to pick myself up,” says Jones. “I love having a bath. I absolutely love hot baths.”

In a personal video for PEOPLE, Theory of Everything star (and Oscar nominee!) also opens up about her close friends and the challenges of playing a real person.

The British actress, 31, who says she felt a “particular sense of responsibility” playing Jane Hawking (wife of famed scientist Stephen Hawking), reveals that her early interest in acting was piqued when she saw a play of Alice in Wonderland as a child. “There was a gauze net in front of [Alice] and I just loved the atmosphere,” says Jones. “I remember wanting to be Alice.”

Now, Jones, who first received acclaim for her role in 2011’s romantic comedy Like Crazy, says there’s little she wouldn’t do for a role. “What I love about being an actor is getting to do crazy things that you would never expect yourself to be doing.”
