How does Andy Samberg feel about his gorgeous bride? Just remember the wise words of Beyoncé.

“I liked it and I put a ring on it,” Samberg told PEOPLE at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday.

Samberg, 35, won best actor for his role in cop comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

But his real prize was a paparazzi-free vacation with wife Joanna Newsom, a singer-songwriter. The admittedly “disoriented” comedian and Newsom – who wed in September – came fresh to the Globes from their honeymoon.

“We just got back last night,” Newsom says. “It was incredible. It was amazing.”

On their trip to the Maldives, Newsom said swimming in the ocean and seeing a dolphin pod were a couple of the highlights.

Despite their jet lag, Samberg and Newsom say they’re thrilled to attend their first-ever Globes together.

“It’s fun,” Samberg says. “It’s very, very hot and sweaty and a lot of awesome, fun, famous people and some interviews.”
