You know the drill when you get on an airplane: Stow away your carry-on in the overhead compartment, buckle up … try not to fall asleep on the passenger sitting next to you.
Thankfully, lots of airlines have given us something to look forward to as we brace ourselves for the inevitable pre-flight safety spiel.
That’s why we’re bringing you the best of the best airline safety videos as you prepare to say bon voyage this holiday season. Basically, if you’re going to interfere with our in-flight sleep routine when we’re about to spend uninterrupted quality time with our very, ahem, special families, it better involve song, dance and adorable children.
Richard Simmons teaches us how to put safety first
We’re just not sure if we want to fasten our seat belts or clock in some cardio after watching this number from safety video experts Air New Zealand.
Delta’s ultimate #TBT
It doesn’t get hipper, tighter or more bomb than this ’80s-flavored nod to a time when a teased side pony was a serious concern for passengers hoping to wade through the aisles toward the restroom.
Tiny, adorable children lead the way
The only thing this Thomson Airways safety video is missing is tiny, adorable kittens.
Ladies in bikinis also do the trick
Because Sports Illustrated Swimsuit models like Christie Brinkley, Chrissy Teigen and Jessica Gomes make life vests look good for this Air New Zealand video. (The bikini babes teamed up with the airlines for the issue’s 50th anniversary.)
Katy Perry and Lady Gaga, anyone?
This might not be an official Cebu Pacific safety video, but really, nothing says “enjoy your flight” quite like a choreographed dance routine to the pop stars’ hits … although a bag of peanuts would be nice, too.
Why robots shouldn’t fly
Safety is serious business – although Delta lets us sneak in a giggle while we watch a robot power down (hey, he’s an electronic device!) in this tongue-in-cheek video.
The safety dance
Warning: Watch this Virgin America video and you’ll be humming “fly away with me” to the guy sitting in the middle seat, which we guess is a step above napping on him.
