A boxer, a billionaire, an Osmond, and a Spice Girl get set to turn up the heat on the new season of Dancing with the Stars
“When I was a little girl, all I wanted to be was a dancer,” says the former Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman actress, 56. “The last dance class I had was 40 years ago! I just love a challenge. I’m crazy that way.” And she’s hoping the surgery she had in 2001 for a herniated disk won’t hinder her performance come the show’s premiere Sept. 24: “It’s something I want to do for me.”
Beverly Hills, 90210’s Kelly Taylor is now a mom of three with actor husband Peter Facinelli. “It’s a great opportunity to get in shape,” says Garth, 35. “The weight from baby No. 3 [Fiona Eve, 11 months] didn’t go away so quickly.”
The Vegas vocalist, 65, has no dance training but isn’t worried: “Part of the dance mystique is to understand rhythms, which I do.”
Melanie Brown, 32, welcomed daughter Angel in April (Dad is Eddie Murphy), wed producer Stephen Belafonte in June and is prepping for a Spice Girls tour. Why dance? “For her it’s, ‘I could tear that show apart!'” says executive producer Conrad Green. Adds Mel: “I can’t wait to wear the costumes.”
The Abercrombie & Fitch model, 22, says he’s doing the show to honor his late grandfather, who was “a great ballroom dancer. You should have seen him at his 50th wedding anniversary. He swept my grandmother around the floor.”
The Brazil-born two-time Indianapolis 500 winner, 32, drives 200 mph for a living, but hitting the dance floor with his fiancée makes him nervous: “Some shots of tequila [and] I can dance really well!”
“You’re never too old to try something new!” says the ’70s sibling singing sensation and mom of eight, 47. No Donny, but “he’d be terrific if they want him,” she says.

The welterweight champ, 30, will try to top past Dancing boxers Evander Holyfield and Laila Ali.
A recent hip replacement won’t stop the billionaire Dallas Mavericks owner, 49. “He has a massive personality,” says Green.
“She’s a bundle of energy,” Green says of the tween star, 22, who plays Dorinda in Disney Channel’s Cheetah Girls.
Soap fans vote loyally, so the All My Children star, 38, could go far.
The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model, 29, has a 14-month-old daughter and her own cosmetics line.
