Before her curdled take on marriage sold more than 6 million copies, Gillian Flynn gave the Gone Girl manuscript to her husband. “I said, ‘If there’s anything that hits too close to home, highlight it, because I’d rather stay married to you than keep a line or two,” she says. The former ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY writer and mom of two, 43, also wrote the screenplay, and her second novel, the 2009 mystery Dark Places, is set to hit screens soon. Will she fix her poison pen on motherhood next? “I can’t imagine I’ll be able to resist,” she says. “Everything in my life seems to turn into fodder for a creepy story!”
