ROYAL BABY WATCH 8 MONTHS!
DID PRINCESS KATE UNWITTINGLY hint that she knows the gender of George’s little sib? Browsing childrenswear at London kids’ boutique Amaia recently, “she was looking at all the girls’ clothing,” co-owner Segolene Tresca tells PEOPLE. “She was very interested.”
While the couple insist they don’t know the gender, the men in the royal family have made their wishes known. Shortly after news of Kate’s second pregnancy broke in September, Prince Charles told a well-wisher, “I hope it will be a girl this time.” William, for his part, “would like a girl,” Kate confessed while pregnant with George in 2013. As her April due date draws near, British oddsmakers say bets are heavily favoring girls’ names, with Charlotte and Alexandra on top. One thing is clear, a longtime royal observer says: “A girl would immediately become a fashion icon. Every little bow or ribbon will be cooed over. Kate will have a lot more shopping to do.”
Kate (in a baby-pink Alexander McQueen coat at Westminster Abbey March 9) has a series of royal events this month. She’s “looking marvelous and on cracking form,” a pal says.
THE PERKS OF BEING A PRINCESS
George may be the future king, but a little sis would get benefits too!
She’ll have access to hats fit for a royal like those worn by (from left) cousins Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice and great-aunt Princess Anne.
HANDBAGS FROM GREAT-GRANNY’S COLLECTION
The Queen has a purse for every occasion (like this one by Launer she carried on Jan. 22).
