1 mary-kate olsen 17 / ashley olsen 17

Power Plays: Ka-chinging from fruit-flavored lip gloss to purple telephones, the mary-kateandashley brand product empire includes clothes, books, electronics, games, bedding, jewelry, dolls and perfume—and grossed $970 million last year with sales in nine countries. This fall the former Full House tykes will release their eighth—and, they say, final—direct-to-video flick and begin concentrating on feature films. Oh, and at 18, they’ll become copresidents of their own 65-employee company, Dualstar Entertainment Group.

Big Bucks: They’re worth an estimated $150 million—each.

Splurges: The twins, whose parents, David, 51, and Jarnette, 49, split in ’96, are fans of pricey duds by Marc Jacobs and Chanel—and recently shelled out $28.50 each to take their SATs.

Love Lives: Ashley is dating Matt Kaplan, 19, a football player at Columbia University in Manhattan. Mary-Kate is single. “There are some radio stations doing countdowns for our 18th birthday,” says Ashley. “That’s a little strange.”

2 hilary duff 15

Power Plays: After two years as the Disney Channel’s Lizzie McGuire, Duff cut ties with Disney in June after the company refused to pay her a bonus of $500,000 on top of $4 million for a sequel to May’s The Lizzie McGuire Movie. But she’s hardly singing the blues: With two up-coming movies, her first solo CD, an in-the-works line of accessories and clothing called Stuff by Hilary Duff and—parents, be warned—a Hilary Duff Visa card for kids, Duff hopes to create an Olsen-style merchandising juggernaut. Did we mention the dog collars?

Big Bucks: After costarring with Frankie Muniz in Agent Cody Banks, Duff scored $1 million for this winter’s Cheaper by the Dozen and a reported $2 million for ’04’s Cinderella Story.

Splurge: $120-and-up Rock & Republic jeans. And “of course I like Louis Vuitton.”

Love Life: Single, but in 10 years “I want a family,” she says. “Oh my God! I’m going to be 25 in 10 years.”

3 mandy moore 19

Power Plays: After three platinum albums, Moore scored onscreen with 2002’s hit A Walk to Remember. July’s How to Deal nabbed under $15 million. “So it didn’t do very well,” she says. “It’s on to the next project.”

Big Bucks: The Neutrogena spokesteen bought the $1.7 million Los Angeles house she shares with her parents and younger brother Kyle: “Mom still does my laundry, so I’ll live it up for a little while longer.”

Splurge: A $1,000 Louis Vuitton Murakami bag. “Ridiculous,” she says. “I should never be spending so much money on something so trendy.”

Love Life: Her tennis-ace beau Andy Roddick, 20, “is my best friend.”

4 amanda bynes 17

Power Plays: Leaving the self-inspired clothes, CDs and perfume to her peers, Bynes—who got her start at 10 on Nickelodeon’s All That—has focused on comedy, including this spring’s big-screen hit What a Girl Wants and the WB sitcom What I Like About You.

Big Bucks: Forbes magazine ranked Bynes No. 97 (rival Hilary Duff came in at No. 96) on its ’03 Celebrity 100, pegging her worth at $2 million.

Splurges: “Manicures, pedicures, facials, massages,” Bynes—the youngest of three children of Rick, 57, a dentist, and Lynn, 52—told NBC’s Today in June.

What’s Next: Her senior year of high school in L.A.—and not much else. She took an earlier break at 14 after working steadily for four years. “I was like, you know, this old Hollywood hag,” she said jokingly.

5 lindsay lohan 17

Power Plays: The child model turned remake queen made her film debut as twins in ’98’s The Parent Trap; her new flick Freaky Friday earned $22 million its opening weekend.

Big Bucks: Lohan is set to join the $1 million club for upcoming projects—among them the big-screen comedy Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, now shooting in Toronto.

Splurge: A BMW convertible. “It’s great to be able to drive,” says the Merrick, N.Y., resident, who lives with her younger three siblings and parents Dina, 40, a former Rockette, and Michael, 43, an entrepreneur. Also, “I’m a huge shopper,” she says. “Fred Segal, Madison and Kitson. I could keep going.”

Love Life: Although she and Hilary Duff both dated singer Aaron Carter, 15, last year, Lohan says there are no hard feelings: “I respect her.” Now single, “I’m keeping myself open,” she says. “There’s a lot of good-looking boys out there.”

charlotte church 17

Power Plays: With 10 million albums sold, the Welsh singer boasts a $26 million fortune.

Love Life: Her family doesn’t think beau Steven Johnson, 19, a deejay, “is the ideal person for me,” Church groused in June.

haley joel osment 15

Power Plays: The Sixth Sense Oscar nominee made $2 million for A.I. Notably taller, he stars in this fall’s Secondhand Lions.

Love Life: Currently single, “but I think that will change when I get my [driver’s] license,” he says.

raven 17

Power Plays: The ex-Cosby kid (she dropped Symone) has a hit Disney show, That’s So Raven, and movie and music deals.

Splurge: Acrylic nails “religiously,” she says, and a silver Mercedes ML55 SUV.

bow wow 16

Power Plays: Lil? Not him. The rapper-actor (Like Mike) has a new CD and a clothing line, Shago.

Splurge: So many cars, including a Ferrari, a Maserati and two BMWs, that “they sit until the battery dies,” he says.

rupert grint 15 / daniel radcliffe 14 / emma watson 13

Power Plays: The wizardly trio are currently shooting Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the third installment in the Potter book series; the first two films have grossed nearly $2 billion worldwide.

Big Bucks—and little: Radcliffe (center right), a.k.a. Harry, is said to have received $3.2 million tor Azkaban, up from the $320,000 combined for the first two films. Watson and Grint, who play Harry’s pals Hermione and Ron, reportedly were paid a mere $125,000 per movie. All three are negotiating to appear in the fourth movie.

Splurge: Radcliffe is a fan of iPods and PlayStation 2 but told Australia’s Sunday Mail last December that he doesn’t monitor his fortune. “Like, when I’m 16 or 18, then I might need to use some of it,” he said, “but at the moment I don’t have anything to do with that.”

frankie muniz 17

Power Plays: The Malcolm in the Middle star netted $3.5 million for this spring’s spy flick Agent Cody Banks and a cool $5 million for the 2004 sequel.

Splurge: Cars—including the Fast and the Furious Jetta.

avril lavigne 18

Power Plays: The Canadian singer has sold more than 14 million albums and wrapped a spring tour; her next album is due later this year or early ’04.

Big Bucks: She signed a $1.2 million, two-album deal in ’00.

shia labeouf 17

Power Plays: The star of TV’s Even Stevens has had a busy year: spring’s hit Holes, Charlie’s Angels 2, Dumb and Dumberer and HBO’s Project Greenlight.

Big Bucks: LaBeouf earns a reported $500,000 per film.

michelle trachtenberg 17

Power Plays: Buffy’s little sis has two films in the works.

Splurge: An “awesome” $600 Marc Jacobs purse: “I can’t even deal,” she says, “with how much I love clothes.”
