Behind the Seams

When posing for Marc Jacobs’ new ad campaign out this month, Victoria Beckham loved the concept of Posh-as-product. “If you can’t get locked inside a Marc Jacobs store,” says Beckham of the surreal shots, “then trapped inside a Marc Jacobs bag has got to be the next best thing!”

Stars Are Loving: Inhabit

They love looking relaxed, but A-listers like Halle Berry, Brad Pitt and Jennifer Garner adhere to strict guidelines when it comes to their off-duty cashmere: They’re all loyal to N.Y.C.-based Inhabit, which features soft, fashion-forward knitwear. The lightweight pieces are ideal for layering, making the pricey line an out-and-about staple. Movie-star sunglasses not included.

Natalie’s New Shoes

Natalie Portman talks to PEOPLE exclusively about her latest role: designing a leather-free shoe line for Té Casan

Why did you decide to do this?

I’ve been vegetarian for 17 years and vegan for several months. Being a vegan, I’ve had such difficulty finding shoes that I can wear, because they are always constructed in leather. It’s very difficult to find non-leather shoes that are beautiful and comfortable. I wanted to make the kinds of shoes I love aesthetically but that are cruelty-free for animals.

How do you actually design a shoe?

The Té Casan design team helped sketch my ideas, [and] I chose materials and colors. When the samples were finally made, I tried on each shoe and gave notes on changes. I love them all! The strappy heels in gold and red are personal favorites.

Is there a market for animal-friendly fashion?

Absolutely. All my friends have asked for the shoes!

How do you feel about other designers using fur and leather?

It’s unnecessary, and cruelty against animals makes any fashion ugly.
