  • Let the celeb baby shopping begin! Not only did Christina Aguilera set up her baby registry at Bel Bambini in L.A. Oct. 5, she also recently bought a Yoshi Kids jacket and a Not Rational diaper bag at Kitson Kids. Meanwhile Halle Berry picked out a Littokids crib and other essentials for her registry at L.A.’s NoMi. But Berry, due in March, is less interested in maternity wear. “Fashion is on my side,” the star said in N.Y.C. Oct. 6. “Everything is [empire waist], so I can work it out in normal clothes with normal designers until the eighth or ninth month.” …

  • The City of Light got an infusion of stars last week for the Paris Spring 2008 ready-to-wear shows: Kirsten Dunst, Kanye West, Rachel Bilson, Lily Allen and Victoria Beckham were among the attendees. “It was probably his best collection yet,” raved Beckham at Karl Lagerfeld’s show for Chanel—which featured ankle purses that looked like alcohol-monitoring devices (above left). In other runway news, Stella McCartney made proud dad Sir Paul McCartney teary. “It’s always very emotional,” he said at her show. “I brought my handkerchief!” …
  • Fall may be just beginning, but Drew Barrymore is already stocking up on cold-weather hats: The star recently received Hurley’s new Benny Beanie chunky knit beret and sported it in Hollywood a few days later. “She is absolutely in love with it and wants to buy it in every color,” her stylist Lee Harris wrote in a thank-you note to the label. The acrylic beret features a detachable Hurley pin; baguette and glass of Beaujolais are also optional.

“I have this funny thing about me,” confesses Eva Mendes. “When I end up on the worst-dressed list, I like it. It means I took a risk.” Whether emulating Italian screen sirens or experimenting with bold colors, Mendes, 33, says a good mentality is vital on the red carpet. “I’ve learned to be natural and calm,” she says. “And, of course, I love my big hair.” Aside from that, “I don’t really have any rules,” Mendes admits. “I should probably get some!” The We Own the Night actress looks back on some of her best looks—and favorite mistakes.

MAY 2006 in Dolce & Gabbana in N.Y.C. “This is what happens when you take a theme and go a little too far. If you’re going to go big with the dress, chill on the hair, chill on the makeup.”

JULY 2007 In Valentino in Rome. “I usually try to stay away from black. It’s boring, and I love color so much. But I really like that one.”

JUNE 2006 In Issa in L.A. “I don’t like using tape. It feels weird. If the girls want to say hi, they’re going to say hi.”

NOVEMBER 2005 In Gucci in L.A. “I did my own hair and makeup, so I was very nervous.”

AUGUST 2006 In Missoni in N.Y.C.

“This is one of my favorite looks of all time. Very feminine, very fun. I threw in the bag and didn’t make it too precious.”

JUNE 2007 In Calvin Klein in N.Y.C.

“I love Calvin Klein, but I can’t carry this color—it’s a bit too bold. It’s very Miami. My family in Miami would love that look.”

APRIL 2004 In Zac Posen in N.Y.C. “Those shoes were from one of those really cheap shoe marts because I didn’t have shoes. They were probably $30.”

MARCH 2002 In Giorgio Armani in L.A. “My first premiere ever! I look like I was smelling a bad smell because I was so nervous.”

OCTOBER 2006 In Ferragamo in L.A. “It was a fun Italian night, and we thought we could have fun with big hair and big eyes.”

FEBRUARY 2005 In Hervé Léger in New York. “Not my strongest choice. I was going for a Cindy Crawford look.”

MAY 2007 In Dolce & Gabbana in Cannes. “I’m obsessed with leopard. I don’t know if it’s my Cuban roots screaming through.”

MAY 2007 In Anna Molinari in Cannes. “[Tent dresses] are so fun and natural and open.”

APRIL 2007 In D&G in N.Y.C. “I love patterns, and I also love the browns and golds.”
