GWEN’S PROJECT RUNWAY
The star took PEOPLE behind the scenes as she prepared for her N.Y.C. fashion show
Gwen Stefani‘s one busy woman: Between jetting around for her worldwide concert tour, launching L, a L.A.M.B. fragrance by Gwen Stefani, and preparing a collection of her clothing line (which debuted Sept. 5), there’s been no sweet escape for the multitasking star this fall. “If I have to, I can get my makeup done in a half hour—maybe,” says the star, who has been traveling with husband Gavin Rossdale and son Kingston, 1. “But there’s no baby-proofing outfits.” Even so, Stefani’s schedule shows no sign of slowing down: The star’s new shoe line debuts in December, “and right after [the runway] show I’m touring all over Europe,” she says. Looks like Kingston’s passport’s going to need a few more pages.

A Fitting with Ugly Betty’s Ana Ortiz
Ana Ortiz, alter ego of Ugly Betty’s Herbalux-peddling sister Hilda, put away her floral midriff-baring tops for Emmy night. The star invited PEOPLE to a private fitting with stylist Tara Swennen in Beverly Hills on Sept. 10, where she finalized her red carpet look. “There were three dresses that I loved and that never happens,” says Ortiz, 36, who settled on a stunning sequined Escada for the big night. “We decided on simple and elegant, with a little bit of pop.” Even Mode would approve.
