Dress Whites

Here’s an opposite that attracts: the little white frock. A far cry from the little black one, it’s equally easy and elegant

Behind the Seams

A 19th-century social climber in Vanity Fair, Reese Witherspoon reaches the height of red-carpet style in Alberta Ferretti at the film’s N.Y.C. premiere.

TIME TO SAY GOODBYE: Updating a classic is pretty commonplace in Hollywood by now—but the famous fans of Cartier’s Panther Tank watch (left) may feel a little nostalgic. The 21-year-old design, owned by Madonna, Julianne Moore, Goldie Hawn, Jane Fonda and many other celebs, is being discontinued and replaced with the new Santos Demoiselle. It’s a familiar Tinseltown story, really: Out with the old, in with the newer, younger model….

THICK AS THIEVES; Brad Pitt plays a slick casino thief in Ocean’s Twelve, due out later this year. But his hair in the film is just plain slick, thanks to Barex Gloss Mousse—the Italian hair-care line was used in a grooming scene. His costar and fellow bon vivant George Clooney uses the line’s Hairgomine Smooth Styling Gel offscreen. They share yachts, vacations, exceptionally good looks and now styling products….

THESE PANTS HAVE LEGS: Amber Tamblyn has an unlikely costar in her upcoming film The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants—a pair of Levi’s Special Edition Superlow Boot Cut 518 jeans. The movie is about four best friends spread out around the globe who share a pair of thrift-store jeans (by mailing them back and forth) and the adventures they each have wearing them one summer. We’ll have to wait and see whether Amber or the denim gets top billing….

CROSS PATHS: Wilmer Valderrama was already sporting one flashy accessory at the Teen Choice Awards (gal pal Lindsay Lohan)—the second was a 10-carat, $50,000 diamond rosary necklace he designed with Victoria’s Jewelers of Beverly Hills. The actor is contemplating his own line and already has a fan in Randy Jackson. The American Idol judge complimented him on the bling. “Call me,” Valderrama told him. “I’ll hook you up.”

LUCITE BRACELET by Alexis Bittar. Anyone doing a wrist watch of sudden singing sensation Ashlee Simpson won’t be able to miss her chunky purple bangle (could it be her lucky one?). Of all her Pieces of Me, this one seems to be a favorite….

New Boot in Town

Across the pond in England, these fleece and rabbit-fur mukluk boots have been flying off shelves as fast as Uggs have stateside.

Already gracing the feet of Gwyneth Paltrow (who owns a pair in black), Kate Moss (she has them in white and in black) and Kate Hudson (hers are gray), they’re now available in the U.S. and have created a waiting list with the veddy fashion-forward.

Hey, if the suit fits, wear it—twice. Usher did. The R&B star spied the spring 2005 samples from new menswear line RyanKenny and snagged the same seersucker suit in two colors. He wore one on MTV’s TRL, then a week later wore the other to the Teen Choice Awards, where he was honored four times. “That suit looked so hot I had to wear it twice,” he says. “It makes you look great for any occasion.”
